OliveNation's Merlot Grape Seed Powder uses the seeds and skins of grapes left over from the winemaking process to create an alcohol-free, gluten free powder that adds flavor, color, and nutritional value to recipes. Sometimes called "wine flour," this versatile ingredient is ideal for use in sweet or savory baked goods, breads, beverages, sauces, glazes, and confectionery products. The dark purplish color and rich fruity flavor of this gluten free, vegan friendly merlot grape pomace powder make it an ideal choice for home or commercial baking, cooking, or food and beverage manufacturing of clean-label and better-for-you products. Because this powdered wine flour disperses evenly in water, liquids, or fats, it is ideal for cakes, cookies, brownies, RTD or mixed beverages, and chocolate coating or fillings. Flavorful, colorful, and nutritious merlot grape pomace powder also makes an excellent thickener or binder in soups, stews, sauces, and prepared meats.
This rich, dark purple-red merlot grape pomace powder is high in protein, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals and makes it easy for home or professional chefs to add nutritional benefits as well as color and taste to almost any recipe. The 100-mesh powder can be added to chocolate or coating for better-for-you confectionery treats, or mixed into frostings, fillings, and batters for cakes, cupcakes. The fine powder helps thicken soups, stews, sauces, and gravies and will add flavor, coloring, and a hint of texture to protein or nutritional beverages, milkshakes, smoothies, and zero-proof or NA mocktails. The naturally gluten free, vegan friendly formulation with no added sugar, color, or preservatives makes this powdered merlot grape pomace a perfect choice for commercial bakery, foodservice, and beverage or mix manufacturers looking to expand clean-label, all-natural, or zero-waste product offerings.
Uses for Wine Grape Seed Powder:
For baked goods, add 1 to 2 TBSP wine grape seed powder per cup of flour. For breads, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup wine grape seed powder per cup of flour. Adjust for more/less flavor, color, texture, or nutritional value as desired. Please note that powdered wine grape pomace should be used to supplement, not replace, regular flours in baked goods, and may require additional liquid for proper texture in recipes. For maximum retention of color and nutritional benefits, baking temperatures under 425° are recommended.

What is Grape Seed Powder?
OliveNation grape seed powder is made using both the skins and seeds of the Vitis vinifera species of grape that includes most of the common cultivars used in modern winemaking. While the juice created by crushing grapes is responsible for creating the natural sugar needed for fermentation as well adding flavor and aroma, the skins and seeds in the pulp left behind after crushing are what create the color and flavor structure of the final wine, especially where red varietals are concerned. This pulpy residue is known as the wine cap, wine marc, or pomace and offers many functional nutritional benefits.
OliveNation's line of grape seed powders are made by drying and grinding wine pomace into a fine 100-mesh powder that is naturally alcohol free, gluten free, and cholesterol free as well as high in protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and contains no trans fats or added sugars. Ground grape seed powder retains the flavor and color of the varietals used, creating an easy to use ingredient for flavoring and natural food coloring that fortifies recipes by adding nutritional value. When used in higher percentages our powdered wine grape pomace will also add color and the taste (but not the alcohol content) of classic wines. OliveNation offers grape seed powders made from some of the most popular wine grape varieties for a full range of colors and flavors that includes both red and white varietals. This versatile byproduct of the winemaking process is also an ideal choice for use in clean label, BFY, zero-waste, and sustainable food and beverage applications as well as zero-proof, NoLo, and NA brewing and RTD manufacturing use.
