    tomato powder

Posted by Thomas on Aug 5th 2022

I bought two 5 pound bags of the dried tomato powder. After adding 5 table spoons to two cups of boiling water it was still very runny and nothing close to tomato sauce. And it had such a bitter flavor I had to add quite a bit of sugar to the mix. For what I spent on the powder I could have bought a LOT of tomato sauce and tomato paste. Not worth it to me. I will never buy this again. And if you think you are going to buy this and have emergency tomato sauce I suggest you buy a very small bag first to try it out.

    tomato powder

I bought two 5 pounds bags of tomato powder, one for me and one for my bud so we coud put this back. I tried making a small amount. I used two cups of water and three TBSP of powder. It was weak so I ended up adding two more TBSP of mix. Better but it had a bitter flavor to it. I added sugar which helped but its still nothing I would use to cook with. And at 5 TBSPs it was not close to tomato sauce. Just juice. This may be OK to have in a dire emergency but frankly I wish I hadn't spent the money on it.

Love this product. Add to thicken chili, put in casseroles. Any thing that calls for tomato sauce or paste!
