Our Spanish Saffron Powder is 100% authentic Spanish saffron that is ground to a finely powdered texture. This classic ingredient offers a distinctive flavor, aroma, and color that is a key element in many international cuisines. Use our 100% natural powdered saffron in traditional savory dishes like paella, risotto, and bouillabaisse. This fabulous ingredient's taste and bold color can be used to create fabulous desserts, as natural food coloring, or for adding a unique touch to soups, meats, and fish dishes. Bulk saffron powder, available as 50-packet options, is ideal for commercial restaurant, foodservice, and bakery applications as well as mix and beverage manufacturing.

Our Spanish saffron powder is Category 1 and SOIVRE certified by Spanish authorities. This confirms that the saffron was harvested using the highest standards, and processed without dyes or artificial ingredients. Our pure Spanish saffron powder is made of finely ground saffron threads (the stigma of the crocus flower), with no additives or preservatives, and can be used immediately without the need for steeping. Use our powdered saffron as a substitute for saffron threads in all recipes.

Why is saffron so expensive? Some people compare saffron to gold, and for good reason. The harvesting of saffron is very labor intensive. Each crocus flower produces only three stigmas and has to be hand picked. It takes thousands of them to produce one ounce of saffron.

Using Saffron Powder: When cooking with powdered saffron, a little goes a long way as the unique flavor can easily overpower a dish. Start with only a pinch of the spice.

    Grandma's chicken & rice

Posted by Carolyn Behrens on Oct 25th 2019

My dad was speaking of my grandmother's chicken & rice and afterwords, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I made the dish with this saffron because my grandmother only used the best! This made the dish taste better than ever and my father and I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you!

    Size Matters

I am so happy to find that Olive Nation sells Saffron in a small package. I only use this spice once or twice a year, so paying a huge amount for more, and having it go stale, is terribly frustrating. I'm so glad they have this option for me.
