Lactose powder, also known as lactose monohydrate and milk sugar, is a naturally sweet sugar found in milk that is ideal for adding slight sweetness, smooth mouthfeel, and bulk to everything from cakes, cake mixes, and baby formula to beer and cider. This versatile ingredient is a great choice for sweetening homemade or RTD beverages, as the finely powdered formulation distributes easily and equally in liquids as well as solids. Superior shelf stability (up to 2 years in a cool, dry location) makes powdered milk sugar ideal for home, professional, and manufacturing use. In general, lactose powder is approximately 15 to 20% as sweet as refined sugar.
