Star anise brewing extract is a key flavoring ingredient in creating traditionally flavored Absinthe or Galliano liquors, as well as Greek Ouzo, French Anisette, and Turkish Arrak and Taki. This formulation has received TTB approval necessary for obtaining Certificate of Label Approvals for beverage sales. Our concentrated star anise brewing extract is a great choice for creating beer, wine, and liqueurs with classic licorice taste, as well as for creating complex flavor profiles. Long used as a flavoring agent and spice, this popular flavoring ingredient is a key element in many regional beverages around the world. The taste of licorice complements both sweet and savory tastes, and blends well with spices like ginger, cloves, cinnamon, or nutmeg. OliveNation's TTB-approved star anise extract is a great way to create beverages with complex flavor profiles. This easy to use flavoring agent is perfect for use in beer and wine making, distilling, or creating hard seltzer, ciders, and flavored waters.
Note: OliveNation extracts are stronger than typical grocery store extracts. Since our extracts are suspended in alcohol, they are best for recipes that are cooked or baked. For no-bake recipes, use one drop at a time until the desired level of flavor is reached. One or two drops can replace one whole star anise in your recipes. A few drops of anise extract for brewing can also replace ground or whole anise seed. One teaspoon of the extract is a great substitute for 1 to 2 tablespoons of anise liqueur in recipes.
