Description

Callebaut Unsweetened Dutched Cocoa Powder 22/24%

This is a dutch-processed (alkalized) powder with 22/24% cocoa butter content. It is a similar color and flavor to the Royal Dutch from Bensdorp - and carries the world famous Callebaut label. It is great for mousse, cremes, biscuits, ice cream, confectionery, decoration, and hot chocolate. Product of Belgium.

Notes about packaging chocolate:

For your convenience, Olivenation re-packages some Valrhona and Callebaut items from larger size couverture bags into smaller size bags. Therefore, items may not arrive in the manufacturers original packaging.

Storage and Shelf Life:

Cocoa powder must be kept cool and dry. White not as fragile as chocolate, it can become lumpy if damp. Stored properly cocoa powder can keep in good condition for years.

    Excellent

One of my specialties is brownies, and I've tried a number of cocoas in the process of perfecting my recipe. A mixture of the Callebaut and the Bommer Black is perfect. I also use the Callebaut to make iced mocha lattes, homemade chocolate ice cream and chocolate pies; the flavor is phenomenal. It isn't the cheapest, but the best rarely is.

This is dutched cocoa. While excellent it is expensive. I prefer the Olive Nation brand undutched.

Great cocoa with a light conscience

I found Callebaut because I was in search of a high quality cocoa from a company that cares about the environment and its producers. Most chocolate out there is made of cocoa from plantations that use children as slaves in Africa. Most of those children are taken away across borders without the knowledge of their parents and they work for nothing, by force, without ever seeing their family. One can only imagine the amount of abuse a child in such situation suffers. I abhor the idea of supporting companies that profit from such practices and I'm glad I found Callebaut for that matter. So, yes, it is high quality cocoa with something that makes it taste even better: sustainable practices and community support with a fair pay. This will be my second purchase and I'll be back for more often, because even our hot or cold chocolate is made out of cocoa and organic milk.

Purchased on a recommendation from Pintrest recipe. So glad I bought this cocoa. Everyone loved the chocolate cake and icing. Said they couldn't stop eating it and asked me to make it again.

I used this cocoa powder to make a chocolate cake. The recipe said to use a very good one. I did and it was worth it. My company loved the cake. A different taste than using regular cocoa bought at the grocery store. I also used it in some cookies that I made for my husbands office. Again rave reviews on the cookies. His office doesnt know what I use but they do know when something tastes special.
