Porcini Mushroom Powder - Ground Boletus Edulis Adds Savory Depth

  • Dried and Ground Porcini Mushrooms
  • Fine Powdered Formulation Mixes Easily into Sauces or Soups
  • Adds Depth of Flavor to Dry Breading and Flouring Mixes and Meat Rubs
  • Makes a Flavorful Thickening Agent

Porcini mushroom powder offers intense savory flavor that can be used in many ways. Also known as boletus edulis, this powdered formulation is ideal for adding to flour for breading chicken, veal and other meats. You can also stir ground porcini mushroom powder into sauces, soups and stews for flavor and as a thickening agent. Remember, a little bit of goes a long way with this finely powdered dried ingredient. We recommend using a 1/2 tablespoon of porcini mushroom powder in a risotto that serves four. Use 1 tablespoon in a meat rub to add depth of flavor.

Cooking with Porcini Mushroom Powder:

If you love the taste of porcini mushrooms, then you will love OliveNation porcini powder. The next time you prepare a dish which calls for flouring chicken breast, veal or any other meat mix some ground porcini powder in with the flour. Add a little freshly ground five peppercorn mix along with a little salt. Sautee meat or poultry in a little unsalted butter mixed with some olive oil for a delicious treat.

A little porcini powder packs a powerful punch! While it really depends on how much mushroom flavor you want or if you are using it as a thickening agent, just remember that a little goes a long way. The normal ratio is about three quarters flour to one quarter porcini mushroom powder for breading or drenching mixes. Try 1/2 Tablespoon in a risotto for four. Use 1 Tablespoon in a meat rub. It works wonderful as a thickening agent too.

    Porcini Mushrooms AA

Posted by Rachel Kaplan on Sep 16th 2020

This is my second order of porcini mushrooms from Olivenation. The first time I bought 1 lb of AB porcinis and they were excellent, intensely flavorful. I still have those but couldn’t pass up this sale. I’ve splurged on the AA. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. I mix them with fresh baby bello in mushroom sauce for pasta, risotto or in quiches. The porcini flavor is delicious and is enhanced with fresh thyme and rosemary. The sale was generous and customer service was also great.

    The best and the dearest

I have purchased porcini mushrooms from Olive Nation for about a year now. I started with the lowest grade and have advanced the quality with each new order. These premium porcini are by far the best. Large pieces. I can say that the previous were smaller and dustier but no problems with seeing any pests in the product in any of the grades AB to these premiums. so for flavor etc the lowest grade is fine but these are beautiful and very presentable

    AA Porcini

The Porcini I ordered last year were better looking than what I received this year but mushrooms vary from year to year. The flavor of these AA Porcini was still excellent.

    What did you expect?

Posted by David Stafford on Apr 24th 2017

These dried porcini are of fair quality, no more, no less. If you are looking for 100% worm-free, sliced-and-dried at peak King Bolete, then you will be disappointed. I estimate about half are overtly wormy, and there is a measurable percentage of woody chunky bits. That said, the filtered broth following reconstitution is great. Just know what to expect.

I use it last night. The soaking water was as strong in flavor and the coloring is as dark as I expected it. Some sediment on the bottom but that is expected also. No telltale sign of insect bites. The musrooms are thoroughly dehydrated and free of dirts. Good stuff ! Will buy again.
