Premium Quality Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans

Madagascr Vanilla Beans (Grade A) by OliveNation take your baking and flavoring to the highest level. Gourmet cooks and bakers know the rich aroma and taste vanilla extract adds to a recipe. But, if you want to add the purest vanilla flavor, try baking with these beans. The tiny flecks characteristic of natural Vanilla Beans come from the seed pods, filled with tiny seeds. Our premium plump and fragrant Madagascar Vanilla Beans are bursting with true vanilla flavor.

Our vanilla beans are imported from Madagascar and have distinctive flavor and aroma. The vanilla orchid goes through a pain-staking process that ensures that each cured seed pod produces the fabulous sweet flavor that chefs love.

How many Vanilla Beans are there in 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, 1 lb

The vanilla bean counts by weight vary a lot depending on the batch of beans and the time of year. As a general rule, 1/4 lb has 23-27 beans included, 1/2 lb has 45-55 beans and 1 lb can have 90-110 vanilla beans included depending on the time of the year

Note: Actual counts of beans by weight vary widely from batch to batch. If you require a specific count of beans, we recommend that you choose one of the specific bean count options (5,10, 16, 25, 50 beans)

How to Use Madagascar Vanilla Beans?

When your cake or ice cream recipe calls for one teaspoon of vanilla extract, substitute one vanilla pod. You can also use whole beans and seeds to make  our own delicious vanilla sugar. Cover rinsed and dried natural vanilla pods in 2 cups of granulated or confectioner's sugar for 2-3 weeks. The vanilla sugar can be used to sweeten espresso and lattes or in cookie and cake recipes.

How to Prepare Vanilla Beans?

Lay the bean flat on wax paper on a clean cutting surface. Gently slice from the center towards each end. Carefully open the split bean and scrape the delicate seeds with a knife blade. Opening the seed pod before placing it in a liquid exposes more of the bean's surface, intensifying the natural flavors.

Optional: Soften the bean before opening by steaming for up to 2 minutes.

How to Store Vanilla Beans?

To keep your beans fresh, store them in an air-tight container. In general, there is no need to refrigerate or freeze madagascar beans. However, this may be necessary for a couple of very hot weeks in the summer months.

How to Make Vanilla Extract from Vanilla Beans?

The ingredients are 3-5 beans, a cup of vodka or alcohol, glass jar or bottle. Split the beans as described above. Put the vanilla pods in the glass jar and cover completely with the vodka or alcohol. Make sure the lid is air-tight. Keep aside in a cool dark place for 6-8 weeks. Give the jar a good shake once a week.

    Vanilla Beans

Posted by Elizabeth Duckworth on Jan 29th 2019

I use, and love all things vanilla but I only buy the beans now 1 or 2 at a time, they are so expensive! I push a bean down into my gallon container of white sugar and I have vanilla scented sugar for a year, even after refills of sugar, for at least a year!

I use these to make homemade vanilla extract. The price to make it is so much less than buying the extract from a typical grocery store and the flavor difference makes it completely worth the up-front price and the time used to make. I highly recommend these vanilla beans. They have excellent flavor and aroma.

    Madagascar Vanilla Beans

These are the worst vanilla beans I've ever had. They have a metal aftertaste. I just ruined two batches of kahlua by putting them in it! I've purchased vanilla beans from another online company and they were amazing! Thought I would give yours a try........terrible idea. Won"t waste a good deal of money on them again. Wish i
would have only bought one instead of 50!

I love these beans! Second time I have ordered them in the past few months. Great smell and flavor. More expensive than other beans but definitely worth the money for the quality.

I have ordered these several times and have always been satisfied. that region was hit by a typhoon and it wiped out the crop hence the price increase.
