Description

OliveNation De-stemmed Tepin Peppers are fantastic in Mexican cuisine with their fiery and fruity flavor. Harvested in Mexico, the Tepin Chile, also known as a chiltepin, may be small, but it delivers big heat. Ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 on the Scoville Heat Scale, the Tepin Pepper is very hot -- about 20 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper! But fear not, the heat quickly dissipates. Tepin chiles are round and 1/4 inch in diameter; they scale in color from red-orange to red-brown. Try Tepin Peppers in your favorite Mexican recipes like posole. You can also add the chile pepper to chili, salsa, and stew. This product is non-GMO and gluten-free. How to Use: Rinse and soak chiles in hot water for 10 minutes. You can also add them directly to a dish that cooks for 10 minutes or more. Note: To protect your skin, always wear rubber gloves when working with hot peppers. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.

Great source for a hard to find product!

Posted by Chris Manchester on Nov 15th 2016

I have been a huge fan of Chiltepin peppers for years, I have an ironwood grinder and even travel with them when I leave town. They are really hot with great flavor and dissipate quickly. I usually grind 4 or 5 and sprinkle them on just about everything. My other source for this Sonoran native pepper had run out and through extensive searching I found them here and immediately bout a big bag so I wouldn't run out for a long time!
    Thanks OliveNation!
