OliveNation shiitake mushroom caps are perfect for adding deep, meaty texture and umami taste to cooked and baked dishes. These dried fungi are dehydrated, giving them a long shelf life while retaining flavor. Our dried shiitake mushrooms use only the thick, meaty caps, which are easy to rehydrate and can be used whole or dices in soups, stews, vegetarian dishes, traditional Chinese cuisine, and stir fries. Shiitakes are popular around the world and add deep, earthy umami taste in savory cooking and baking, especially Asian-inspired and vegetarian recipes. When rehydrated, these dried shiitake mushrooms have a rich, earthy taste and meaty texture that adds both flavor and depth in fillings for dumplings, stuffings, sauces, and soups. These caps can also be used as the primary protein in vegetarian recipes and are easy to stir fry, saute, or bake. Dried shiitake mushrooms have a long shelf life that makes them a great staple ingredient for home, institutional, and professional cooking and baking applications. Bulk dehydrated caps are great for commercial bakery and mix manufacturing as well as home use for flavorful, healthy cooking and baking.

How to Substitute Dried Shiitake Mushrooms for Fresh:

Substitute 1 ounce of dried shiitake for approximately 8 ounces of fresh mushrooms.

How to Rehydrate Shiitake Mushrooms:

First rinse the mushrooms until they are fully clean. Rehydrate in warm (not boiling) water, wine, or stock for 20 to 30 minutes, then drain and use as desired. In addition, the liquid used for rehydrating can be retained and used to add additional depth of flavor to stocks, soups, or sauces.

    Review for Shiitake Mushrooms

Next time I'll get all caps. Stems are tough, although I'm led to believe more nutritious.

    Very disappointed

Posted by Tammy Strickland on Jan 2nd 2017

I ordered a pound of these mushrooms and soaked them as directed - even as long as 24 hours and they were inedible. Tough as leather and could not be chewed. I contacted the company and they asked me about it, and then I never heard another word from them. Highly do not recommend buying this product. I have been satisfied with other products purchased here.
