The pepper should be stored in an airtight container, in a cool dark and dry cupboard or pantry. Storing whole peppercorn in a pepper mill for that amount of time is not recommended, as the pepper will begin to lose its potentness the more it is exposed to air. Fill your peppercorn mill on an as needed basis from your supply to keep your organic peppercorns as fresh as possible.
