Dried Maitake Mushrooms by OliveNation are broken into pieces for convenience. The Maitake Mushroom is commonly called Hen of the Woods for its fluffy, hen-like appearance. The mushroom is relatively large – some growing to 30lbs or more! Hen of the Woods Mushrooms have a light taste, making them a versatile ingredient in many dishes. We like them in pastas and risottos. Maitake Mushrooms are meaty and perfect for meatless dishes.
How to Use Dried Maitake/Hen of the Woods Mushrooms:
Rinse the mushroom slices under cool water. If making a dish with liquid that cooks for at least 25 minutes, there's no need to rehydrate. For all other recipes follow these steps to rehydrate: Place mushrooms in a heat-proof bowl, bring some water to a boil, carefully cover the mushrooms with the hot water, and let soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Save the soaking liquid to add extra flavor to your dish.
