OliveNation Kokuho Rose Rice is a Japanese heirloom rice with a subtle floral aroma and a delicate sweet flavor. This premium medium grain rice is a staple in Japanese, Korean and other Asian cuisines.
While it often used by gourmets for making sushi rice, it can be used in any recipe that calls for rice. Kokuho Rose rice makes a wonderful Rose Water rice pudding, flavored with cardamom and nutmeg. You can also use it as a side dish or when making Chinese fried rice.
How to Prepare Kokuho Rose Rice: Even though this type of rice is best when cooked in a rice cooker, you can still make it on the stovetop. Place 1.5 cups of rice in a medium saucepan with 2 cups of cold water. Let it stand in the water for 30 minutes. Place over heat and bring to a boil. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid, reduce the heat to simmer for approximately 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Remove the pan from heat, and allow the rice to rest undisturbed for 15-20 minutes. Remove the lid, and gently fluff with a fork. Replace the lid and allow rice to rest again for an additional 5 – 10 minutes.
