Callebaut Caramel Loaf

Some of the most decadent recipes call for caramel, but caramel is notoriously hard to find. Callebaut caramel loaf is made with the finest butter and sugar and is widely known for its smooth toffee flavor. This genuine Callabaut caramel loaf can be used all at once or in small pieces; it has a shelf life of up to nine months. Caramel is essential for making pralines, but there are several other uses for Callebaut caramel loaf as well. Simply heat it up and drizzle it over ice cream, pastries, or add it to chocolates and other sweets. This dark blonde caramel is rich and highly stable, making it ideal for incorporation into finished products.

    UNBELIEVABLE PRODUCT! Melts quickly in microwave so keep an eye on. The taste is utterly fantastic. The texture is smooth like ice. Went through one loaf in a week making caramel apples on demand. Because of the long shelf life, will double my order next time. ENJOY!!

    Caramel loaf is soft and easy to use

    Haven't tried adding cream to make thinner, think will make it taste richer. Makes good caramels dipped in chocolate.

    Love it, made caramel sticky buns and candy apples so far and it tastes great! While not a health food it is much better than the ones with the HFCS

    Hubby loves caramel and says this is a real treat! It wasn't used in any recipes or melted to drizzle over something. He just pulls some off the "loaf" and visits his own little caramel heaven!

    First off let me say I only eat my own homemade caramel. Well let me tell you stuff is really good! Not only does it work well in my recipes, but it is good just to eat a chunk by itself. Will definitely buy this again.

    OMG, this so far passed my expectations that I'd give it a 10, if I could. First off, I expected an actual "loaf" shape that would be hard at room temperature (like some of those wrapped caramels you buy in bulk), and that you would have to cut off pieces with a knife. I expected that I'd have to microwave it to get it soft enough to eat without breaking my teeth. No, no, no, and no. Instead, what I got had clearly been poured into the heavy duty plastic bag in which it came (so I'm not sure why it's called a loaf, unless it's baking terminology with which I'm not familiar). And it is SOFT! Oh so soft, I didn't need any kind of utensil to get some out. I could just pull off a piece with my fingers. In fact, it was so soft that, every time I pulled a piece out, it looked as if I were pulling taffy. The piece just kept stretching into a thinner and thinner thread of caramel until I finally had to squeeze off an end. And the taste is out of this world - it tastes EXACTLY like the caramel on caramel apples. If you like caramel apples, you will LOVE this. In fact, I ate three apples (albeit small ones) in a row just to savor the caramel. Not only is the caramel soft, it's also smooth. I've had grainy, granular caramel that may taste OK, but had a terrible mouth feel. Not this one. Satiny smooth all the way. What was most interesting to me was that it made even old, mushy apples delectable. I mean, I'm the kind of person who *hates* mushy apples. Apples must be super crisp, or no go. Unfortunately, the only apples I had around were "discard" or cooking apples - way too mushy to eat, old wrinkly skin, only good for cooking (or so I thought). But I was desperately anxious to try this caramel with apples. Beggars can't be choosers, so I reluctantly cut up these old, mushy apples into chunks, wrapped some caramel around them, and popped them in my mouth. Oh. My. Gosh. I couldn't even tell these apples were old OR mushy! Divine!! I'm also amazed at the price! At this price (just under $7 a pound), I will NEVER even think about making my own caramel again! And, because it's so malleable, it would be very easy to use it in almost any recipe calling for caramel. I truly feel I found a hidden treasure (I couldn't believe that no one had reviewed it yet). If you love smooth and creamy caramel, you've got to give this a try. If it isn't as I described, then you got a bad batch (I never have, but I suppose anything's possible), and SEND IT BACK for another one. I just hope the price stays low. ;-)
