Description
If you haven't discovered the delicious flavor of black currants, here is your opportunity. The black currant has a slightly sweet and grape-like flavor. In Europe black currant is as popular as grape is in the US. This delicious extract is extremely versatile and can be added to replace either grape or berry flavor in any baking or ice cream recipe. Add it to syrups and sauces for beef, chicken, ham and game. We guarantee it will be one of your favorites. This black currant (cassis) extract is both sugar and gluten-free. Formula updated June 21st 2017 Ingredients: Natural ethyl alcohol, natural black currant flavors.

Variety and Quality
I have used many extracts from Olive Nation and have been very happy, the black currant being no exception. Primarily, I use them to fortify the fresh fruit flavors in homemade ice cream and sorbets. When added in the correct ratio they perform well by enhancing, not overpowering.

not good for flavored water
I recently built a home carbonation system to make my own sparkling flavored water. I purchased these ten flavors in that pursuit. I tried each flavor in my water several times to try and give them a fair test. 1. Black Currant (Cassis) Extract – too bitter for flavored water (I don’t add sugar or stevia), not very potent 2. Red Raspberry Extract – Ok but really weak for my purpose. 3. Orange Extract – Not great at all, chalky taste, the Watkins orange oil from Walmart is better 4. Lime Extract – I was blown away by the awesomeness. Potent and bang on flavor! 5. Cherry Extract – Good “hint” water but not as potent or amazing as the Lime and Pineapple 6. Peach Extract – not good for “hint” water I couldn’t tell what the flavor was even after adding 4x as much as the lime or pineapple 7. Pineapple Extract – I was blown away by the awesomeness. Potent and bang on flavor! 8. Blackberry Extract – underwhelmed. It is weak and tastes more green and brambly than like the lush blackberries I love 9. Lemon Extract – Very accurate lemony flavor, quite potent 10. Strawberry Extract – Accurate flavor but very weak for the purpose of “hint water”, I would not purchase again I had some disappointments and some delightful surprises. The only flavors I would for sure repurchase would be the Lime, Pineapple and Cherry. Most people will purchase for baking and not for flavored water which is why I clearly am stating my purpose/use for the flavors.
