Egyptian dried spearmint leaves can be used to brew a spearmint tisane (a distillation of leaves, twigs flowers, roots or back from sources other than the tea plant – Camellia sinensis). It is very refreshing and more mellow than peppermint, and is commonly used to help with morning sickness and gentle enough to ease colic in babies.

Two ways to prepare a spearmint tisane (use one heaping teaspoon per mug):
a. Steep in hot water for five to ten minutes.
b. heat slowly in a pot of water until almost boiling and then turn off fire and steep on stove.

Can also be chilled as an iced mint “tea”, or even try brewing with green tea and sugar to make the delicious North African mint tea.
